Robert Mondavi Winery 60th Anniversary Commemorative Cabernet Sauvignon

In celebration of Robert Mondavi Winery's 60th anniversary and its grand reopening, our winemaking team has crafted a commemorative Cabernet Sauvignon both historic and forward-looking. Sourced nearly equally from our historic vineyard on Wappo Hill and our celebrated To Kalon Vineyard, this expressive wine opens with notes of ripe raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry and adds high-toned notes of juicy red berry with polished tannins and a fresh, lengthy finish.

ACCOLADES

96 Points "A terrific, one-time bottling of 100% cabernet sauvignon from two distinct vineyards owned by Robert Mondavi. Deep and delicious, with black cherry, blackberry, creme de cassis and dark chocolate notes wrapped in a firm, polished texture and impressively rich, fine-grained tannins."

Aromas: Opens with ripe raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry, with hints of dried herb, graham cracker, and mineral popping against the fresh fruit notes.
Flavors: High-toned notes of juicy red berry lead into cranberry with a line of bright acidity carrying straight through, complemented by sweet toast and a savory finish
Body: Plush and elegant, with density, concentration, and structure. The tannins are pretty and polished, and the finish is very fresh and lengthy

VINEYARD

THE VINEYARD: The wine brings together two distinct personalities of Cabernet Sauvignon, using the same clones from the two original Robert Mondavi estate vineyards: the iconic To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville and our vineyard on Wappo Hill, which Robert planted at his hilltop home in Stags Leap District. The result is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine with classic structure and a modern brightness and mouthfeel.

The Vintage: The 2023 vintage in Napa Valley was exceptional, with one of the longest growing seasons in a decade or more. Harvested between September 27 and October 18, consistent, mild weather and abundance of sunshine allowed grapes to ripen slowly and develop maximum flavor concentration while maintaining great acidity. The wine spent 24 days on the skins and was aged 19 months in French oak (36.30% new) —leading to a vintage with freshness, purity, and elegance.

60th Anniversary Cab

"I enjoyed the wine, but I didn't find it a good value. There are other wines in the Mondavi portfolio I would buy at this price point (or lower). The bottle also felt light, which I associate with lower-cost wines. That said, I'm going to open another bottle and revisit it."
