VINEYARD
THE VINEYARD: Carneros, with its foggy, wind-swept hills, proves an ideal home for the notoriously challenging and delicate varietal, Pinot Noir. The cool nights, foggy mornings, and afternoon breezes that blow in from San Pablo Bay allow for the slow, even ripening needed for the development of key flavors and aromas.
THE VINTAGE: The 2021 vintage was excellent and mild. After rains in January and February, the growing season remained dry. Temperatures were moderate and the weather optimal at budbreak in April and bloom in May. Weather remained even through summer and harvest, resulting in a lower-than-average yield with small, deeply concentrated grapes.
TASTING NOTES
Aromas: Dark cherry, red plum, warm baking spice, hints of strawberry and violet
Flavors: Cherry, red plum, a touch of black & white pepper, subtle earthiness
Body: Fruit forward with a juicy element, nice structure, and fine tannins
